Golf de St. Donat

Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

Situated at 30mn from Nice airport and 10mn from Cannes, the Saint Donat Golf Club is set in a beautiful estate full of history at the doors of the World Capital of the perfume industry: Grasse. This magnificent 71 par course offers a challenge to all golfers and will delight you with the diversity of its layout and its landscapes.

If you want to give your golf game a thorough workout in pleasant parkland surroundings, then Saint-Donat will certainly oblige. Here beside the small La Mourachonne river in the Grand Vallon de Grasse, Robert Trent Jones Jr has created a good but tough layout in a relatively compact area.

Course Summary

The course was designed thanks to the coming together of golf course designer Robert Trent Jones Jr and Michael Benedetti owner of the site. Together they designed a quite compact course, very varied and precise which is traversed by the Mourachonne, a tributary of the river Siagne. At Saint-Donat, there is a very American feel to the course with a large water feature shared by the tenth and eighteenth holes.

The opening and closing holes require precise driving, with the river an ever-present danger. In the middle section of the course, there is a lot less water and more room to manoeuvre from the tee. However, good bunkering and large greens will keep you on your toes. The layout includes a few blind drives, although much of the time you play from nicely elevated tee boxes that give a clear view of the hazards ahead.

The course is also equipped with the latest in technologies as regards watering and drainage for optimum water management. The use of organic fertiliser is also used as part of the ecologically responsible approach. The 19-hole course is accompanied by a compact 9-hole designed to be a great little training ground for rookies and experienced golfers alike.
