Craigston Castle dates back to the early 1600s and has been the long-standing home of the Urquhart family and can be hired today on a self-catering, exclusive use basis, sleeping up to 12 guests in 6 individually designed bedrooms.

The Estate

Conveniently located the castle is approx 1 hour's drive from Aberdeen and a short drive or helicopter ride from Aberdeen airport. This exclusive-use castle sits in 250 acres of woods and parkland in the middle of a working farm in rural Aberdeenshire where you will enjoy complete privacy with an intimate feel. Not only will you enjoy complete exclusivity of the castle and grounds, but you can also extend your stay and indulge in luxury overnight accommodation for up to 12 guests.


As guests of the Urquhart family you will have your choice of room, each beautifully decorated with period furniture, including original four-poster beds. Each room has its bathroom. In the evening you can sit by a roaring log fire in the drawing or ante-drawing rooms and enjoy a whisky from one of the many local distilleries. The castle has a fully equipped traditional kitchen, with modern appliances for self-catering. Meals can be eaten in the kitchen or dining room. Your hosts can also help you choose from the best local produce: game, lamb and Highland beef from the estate; fish from nearby Macduff; and seasonal, organic vegetables from Craigston's neighbouring farms.
