Championship Courses

Designed to perfection by renowned international architects, the championship golf courses of the North East are some of the most scenic, and well-known, in the world. Many of Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire's famous golf courses have been created to host top international golf competitions.

Murcar Links Golf Club for example is not only a championship links course but also regularly makes it to the Top 100 golf courses in the UK list. Most recently, in 2016, the course held the European Tour Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Play but has held several important competitions over its 100-year-old history.

Along the coast, Aberdeenshire's newest golf course, Trump International Golf Links, can be found in the majestic dunes of Balmedie. The course is set against the dramatic backdrop of miles of coastal views and boasts an impressive 72 championship par course which is being enjoyed by keen golfers from across the world. Just two miles north of Trump is the championship Newburgh on Ythan Golf Club, overlooking the grand Sands of Forvie Nature Reserve. Set against a sandy backdrop with impressive views across miles of sandy coast all the way along to the imposing Slains Castle, this course is truly memorable!

Links Courses

Great dunes stretch along Aberdeenshire's 165 miles of golden coast - some of them said to tower 100 feet high. In this extraordinary sandscape that some of the world's most challenging links courses have been created. Close to the city centre lie Kings Links, the championship Royal Aberdeen and Murcar Links. These picturesque courses have views for miles across the North Sea.

Here along Scotland's north east coast the panoramic views and elemental power can take a golfer's breath away. The skies here are vast, the light clear and long, the air clean and fresh and golfers can tee off any time of the year.

Royal Deeside's towns and villages are home to some of the best parkland and heathland courses found this side of Scotland. The UK's highest golf course is at Braemar, where Aberdeenshire meets the Cairngorms National Park, and has unrivalled panoramic views of the regal Royal Deeside. And if you venture further along, encircled by great hills of the Cairngorms you will find Ballater Golf Club - an 18-hole parkland course right in the heart of the immense countryside.
